Karen Redding, LCSW, Ph.D.

Psychotherapy

After completing a BA in Psychology and obtaining a Masters degree in Social Work, I became licensed as a LCSW.  I have had the privilege and pleasure to work in a variety of settings, all of which have informed and deepened my work. These settings include: residential treatment for juvenile offenders; an oncology out-patient unit in a teaching and research hospital; an emergency room setting in a hospital and trauma center doing psychiatric assessments, crisis interventions, and referrals; a homeless shelter; and hospice care, both outside and inside the home.

I completed a Ph.D. and post-graduate training in psychoanalysis at the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies (LAISPS) in Los Angeles, which is affiliated with both the American (APA) and International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA).

I have been a Field Supervisor for the USC School of Social Work, and have supervised MSW Interns.

I am the Area Chair for the Orange County Chapter of the American Association for Clinical Social Work in Psychoanalysis (AAPCSW).

I was involved and facilitated The Artists’ Collective, a group of artists who share the experience of homelessness at The Friendship Shelter in Laguna Beach.

I have been a teacher at InsightLA, combining a mindfulness-informed lens to my psychotherapy practice.
